The GP TEK front wheel weighs only 3.75 lb. (1.7 kg) and the rear wheel is 5.29 lb. (2.4 kg) (depending on fitment), constructed with specialized carbon fiber specifically selected for enhanced cornering stiffness. The hubs are made using 6000 grade aircraft aluminum; the fasteners are grade 5 titanium; RFID tag traceability throughout its lifespan; and a specialized coating between the tire and rim that improves tire changing routines.
For motorcycle racing enthusiasts, there aren't many feelings that equal the excitement of running laps on a racetrack at their bikes’ performance limit. And while race tracks were once only accessible to race-prepared bikes, today many bike clubs and some professional riding schools allow riders to learn more about high performance riding as they run their street bikes (with relatively few modifications) on the same tracks as sponsored racers. The BST GP TEK wheels were designed with MotoGP and MotoE in mind, BST’s mission was simple, design the lightest-weight motorcycle wheel possible. Light-weighting involves the use of advanced materials and engineering methods to enable structural elements to deliver the same, or enhanced, technical performance while using less material. It also represents an effective way to reduce energy consumption while enhancing performance. Note for Ducati owners, due to the unique design of the GP TEK wheel, it is not possible to manufacture it for single sided, rear wheel application, therefore BST is developing a new wheel named Star TEK that will be the answer for Ducati applications. Look for the all new Star TEK at the end of the year.
For drag racing enthusiasts, the GP TEK wasn’t built for you, although we know it will end up at the dragstrip. If you decide to install these on your drag bike, we want you to know that you do so at your own risk. BST feels confident in the strength of the GP TEK for loads experienced in track racing but coming down at over 100 mph on a hard wheelie is not what the GP TEK wheel was designed for. For drag racing application we recommend the 7 TEK.
